Katherine’s daily artworks are her abstract memories of her unspoiled natural world from above, with no humans or buildings as a stark reminder of what we once had in all its beautiful glory and a reminder that we need to take steps to preserve it.
Katherine’s painting journey began when she was helping a successful Aboriginal artist that wanted to retire. He has since passed away but he helped her realise that she can also paint, when she thought she couldn’t. Her unique style is influenced by his Aboriginal art, the ocean, nature and the land in Abstract.
Her love for the Abstract arts has exploded onto specialty papers allowing others to catch a glimpse of her artistic abilities and her exploration of many exciting new art medium. Katherine begins each painting by using a syringe to pour the mixed inks onto the yupo paper and watches it dry and waits for a scene to appear and then begins the fine pen work to complete the story.
Her work is instinctual, vibrant, colourful, and playful and yet the detail of shapes, serve to integrate the free forms with those carefully controlled and created.
Her work is inspired by the tranquil and exquisite creation of the wondrous world around us.
