Laura Wade is an artist living and working in West Cork, Ireland. She studied Fine Art specialising in Printmaking at Galway/Mayo IT’s Centre for Creative Arts + Media and graduated with a first class honours in 2014. She also received the Cork Printmakers emerging artist 12 month bursary. Since graduating, she has participated in exhibitions nationwide and internationally, and has work is in both public and private collections.
Her immediate environment is the starting point of her work and recently, the enigmatic nature of the West Cork region has shaped her creative practice. Since the transition from an urban environment to a landscape abundant with quiet open spaces, wandering woodlands and rolling hills, the disparity between her past and present surroundings have become overwhelming. In this selection of work, she responds to these non-rural experiences and the enduring elegance of the land. The upright, long armed and sighing nature of the conifer tree set against the vast cosmos serves as a reminder of our own roots and connections to the landscape.
